Spring floral projects

Because spring has arrived, in this article we will present you with some decorative projects involving special floral motifs that you can and will easily execute if you follow the steps.

In this first project we will show you how to create a painting of a pansy, in a unique and bold composition, using the watercolor technique, step by step. First, the pencil drawing is executed and the shape, shadow and chromatic elements are traced, which can transform this work into a small wonder.

I mixed citron yellow and ochre, working each petal in turn. Fill each petal shape with water, then add color to the outer edge with a brush (of course with fine hair). Applying the yellow shades only on the edges with an intermediate area of ​​white, gives me the opportunity to put the purple inside the petal before the yellow dries because this way they do not mix. Wet the paper well when applying the purple to achieve those fluidities specific to watercolor.

I continued working by going back over the dark areas of the flower petals, adding layers of color in the center to make the area rich and darker. Leaving some white areas along the edges of the petal creates the impression of clear separation between them.

After I had added all the colors and the painted areas of the petals were dry, I started working on the shadows. To create a neutral gray, I combined my previous mixtures of purple and yellow. When creating the shadows, I followed the same procedure: applying water first and then color, allowing the water to carry the color across the wet surface.

Once the color had dried on the petal area and in the shadow areas, I started working on the background. I used a mixture of emerald green with chrome yellow and ultramarine blue to make the shadows of the leaves.

The second project is also done in watercolor, but also involves a liquid wax outline. This is a simple and very expressive way to render flowers.
